MechaTrellis Driver PCB 4x4
MechaTrellis is a custom remix of the popular Adafruit Neotrellis 4x4 keypad board - but re-designed for mechanical keyboard switches instead of rubber buttons.
A dual switch footprint lets you use either Cherry MX or Choc V1 switches.
As with NeoTrellis, each switch position has a full color RGB LED (NeoPixel compatible)
These 4x4 button boards are tile-able and communicate over I2C. With 5 address pins, up to 32 boards can be joined together in any arrangement.
Connects to a microcontroller using a JST-SH 4pin (aka STEMMA-QT) cable. Our dink-ii controller is an excellent add-on.
Boards can be joined together by soldering them edge-to-edge and bridging the I2C address jumpers on each one. Then you can use one I2C connection for the entire tiled array.
Make a mechanical switch monome grid with the neotrellis-monome firmware.
Does this require Soldering?
- Boards are fully SMD assembled but do require soldering of the key switches and soldering to join/tile boards together
What switches can I use?
- Kailh Choc V1
- Cherry MX
How many boards do I need?
- 8x8 monome grid (64 buttons) = 4 boards
- 16x8 monome grid (128 buttons) = 8 boards
- ~40% ortholinear keyboard (12x4) = 3 boards
MechaTellis are pre-programmed with the same seesaw firmware as the Adafruit Neotrellis boards. See the Adafruit seesaw driver information if you want to program the boards themselves in a different way.
Key switches are not included.
Not size-compatible with NeoTrellis driver boards. MechaTrellis is a larger PCB.
- Dimensions: 76.2mm x 76.2mm
- This board/chip uses I2C 7-bit addresses between 0x2E to 0x4D selectable by soldering jumpers on the back of the board.
