Umbrellas is a DIY multi-interface MIDI hat for Raspberry Pi 4.
Features:
- 4 Hardware MIDI Ins - TRS/DIN (2 TRS, 2 are TRS or DIN)
- 4 Hardware MIDI Outs - TRS/DIN (2 TRS, 2 are TRS or DIN)
- Auto sensing TRS MIDI Type-A/Type-B input with LPZW Auto Crossover circuit
- TRS MIDI outputs are switchable between Type-A or Type-B
- 4 USBMIDI ports (and can support USB hubs for more)
- 1 USB Host adapter (with QtPy add-on. USB-C )*
- MIDI activity leds
- On/Off safe shutdown switch for Pi
- Web-based configuration tool for managing MIDI connections
- Uses stock RasPiOS (Desktop or Lite) with some configuration
- Hackable/extensible (via PureData or other software)
* The USB Host adapter allows you to connect a “USB Host” like a computer, iPad, norns, organelle, etc. and interface with it the same way you would with other MIDI devices. An Adafruit QTPy is required for USB Host functionality.
Kit Versions:
- Full kit with all parts, acrylic case and QTPy
- PCB set + thru-hole components and standoffs (No case. No QTPy)
Thru-hold soldering is required for this kit.
A Raspberry Pi 4 is required but is not included in this kit.
1GB or 2GB model is recommended.
4GB/8GB models will not offer any additional capability.
